I don’t want to be that chick, but also needed to let this out. It’s frustrating seeing people I know Tweet about their weekends at the beach, and what a kill joy the weather is going to be if it starts raining later today, while just north of our mildly affected urban Manila metropolis, people that are probably one degree removed from us have been sitting on the roofs of their houses for over 72 hours without water, food, blankets, or shelter - and another storm is about to hit.

Calumpit, Bulacan declared a state of calamity days ago, but I feel like people have become so inundated with “big impact” words that they have become hardened to what they really mean.

A special word of thanks to the people that stayed up all night with me trying to locate missing individuals, and are still on the grind - either on the ground (or should I say, in the water) in Bulacan, those exerting efforts collecting and distributing relief goods, and the others that are collecting and disseminating information and communication via phone and computer.
Typhoon Quiel made landfall in Isabela about 2 hours ago.
I would like to begin helping relief efforts by apologizing for my rant and negativity, and instead tell you that I am hopeful in what we can collectively do to help our people. I’ve seen some magic happen in times of previous distress (Ondoy), and have faith that this time will be no different.
